Award for viscom exhibitors: The winners of the viscom BEST of 2011 AWARDS have been confirmed
To honour the numerous innovative achievements of viscom exhibitors, the viscom BEST of 2011 AWARD was again presented during the international trade fair for visual communication, technology and design. There were winners in the categories of large format printing/LFP, sign-making and light advertising. Many new products were to be seen, in particular in the sector of large format printing. Due to the numerous, high-grade and still very different submissions, the jury was able to proclaim three winners here. The jury consisted of the editors-in-chief of the trade magazines Large Format, TVP and signPro Europe, representatives of the Zentralverband Werbetechnik e.V., EFRA Lichtwerbung Ernst Franke, vertical version and of the organiser of viscom, Reed Exhibitions Germany. The award ceremony took place during the second evening of the fair, during the viscom night celebration.
Large Format Print Category/LFP
Fahnen Herold W. Frauenhoff GmbH & Co.KG:
Flag material "Stormfriend" with micro perforations

For the "Stormfriend" flag material, Fahnen Herold W. Frauenhoff received an award in the large format print category/LFP. The flag is outstanding due to a new weaving technique. The material is provided with micro perforations, which provide improved air permeability and thus cushioned waving and also faster drying. In addition, the flag is less likely to tear. The jury also praised the good print that can be achieved on the fabric. Due to the uniform arrangement of the micro perforations and a totally homogeneous surface, the flag material can be easily printed digitally.
Mimaki-nbh GmbH:
Mimaki Ink Jet Printer JV34-260

A major feature is its price-performance ratio: Thus Mimaki received one of the BEST of 2011 AWARDS for its ink jet printer JV34-260 in the large format print sector. For the jury, the unit is a real workhorse for all current applications in digital printing and advertising technology. The JV34-260 can print over a width of up to 2.60 metres and by printing on transfer paper can also be employed as a textile machine. This versatility also enables smaller companies to concentrate on just this one printer. It is thus optimally suitable for the advertising technician. Its speed and thus high productivity is also a major feature. The printer has two newly developed printheads that are arranged offset. This permits print speeds up to 30 m²/h.
Neschen AG:
solvoprint easy dot 100 PE matt/gloss/NEW: clear

An additional award in the large format print category was given to Neschen AG for the solvoprint easy dot 100 PE. For the jury the added value was obvious. For example, even the inexperienced can quickly and simply apply the self adhesive foil which can also be removed without leaving any residues. It is optimally suitable for short-term use at events and is also advantageous where numerous locations need to be equipped at the same time or where frequently changing advertising messages need to be transported. In addition, the foil can be used repeatedly. It can be printed with solvent, eco solvent and UV-curing inks.
Sign-making Category
Roland DG Benelux:
VersaSTUDIO BN-20

Roland is the winner in the sign-making category with the VersaSTUDIO BN-20. The jury was convinced by the overall package: The printer is a desktop model at a reasonable price for versatile applications. The unit can print and cut and is suitable for such applications as glossy stickers, labels and posters. Especially interesting is also the ability to print metallic inks. The VersaSTUDIO BN-20 is particularly interesting for small companies, agencies and service providers, who wish to produce individualised products such as gifts and advertising media. As the jury pointed out, a real added value for this target group.
Light Advertising Category
LIGHTPANEL GmbH:
Light panel

The light panel from the company with the same name received an award this year in the light advertising category. The light panels consist of ultra-slim light-diffusing lenses, which are illuminated from the side with LEDs. Since the panels are scored and/or lasered with an individually computed grid, homogeneous light diffusion is achieved. Areas of up to 3 x 2 metres can thus be completely illuminated. In addition, the customer can choose between a material thickness of 4 to 15 mm. The system can be fixed flat against the wall and ceases to protrude into the room. Consequently, it also opens up completely new possibilities where shop and trade fair stand construction is concerned.
