Europe’s trade fair for visual communication will take place in Halls 13 and 14 this year. Top printing press manufacturers and distributors will be on hand to present the latest processes, technologies and materials – including Agfa Graphics, Canon, ComPlott Papier Union, Epson, ESC Decoration Technologies, Fujifilm, Mimaki and SwissQPrint. Good news for all experts in digital retail and brand communication: the deadline for entries to the Digital Retail Award 2017 was postponed by one month upon request by the industry. Manufacturers, service providers, digital agencies and retail still have time until 21 August to apply for this industry award in the open competition. The most innovative entries will be introduced to a wide expert audience at viscom 2017. Europe’s trade fair for visual communication is expected to attract 10,000 trade visitors from 71 countries from 18 to 20 October in Düsseldorf.

viscom provides a valuable platform for newcomers from the advertising industry. From 18 to 20 October, creative startups and young entrepreneurs are welcome in Düsseldorf to present their exciting new products to about 10,000 international trade visitors – and they’ll get a special deal, too. Making it possible is a partnership of Europe’s trade fair for visual communication with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi), which will cover up to 60 per cent of the costs for stand construction and rent. Berlin-based startup Omnimundus is one company that’s already taking advantage of the offer.

The future of retail is getting increasingly digital – including at the POS. Europe’s retailers, however, are hardly prepared: 83% of them don’t offer a cross-channel shopping experience yet, according to March 2017 findings from the auditing and consulting company PwC. It’s an ominous trend – but viscom is pushing back. From 18 to 20 October, Europe’s trade fair for visual communication in Düsseldorf will showcase innovative digital projects for the retail sector and brand and trade communication. The best projects will receive a Digital Retail Award, a singular honour. Applications are now accepted.
